One of the Ten Best-Selling Hermes Carres of All Time

seton says: If I remember correctly, this carre is adapted from a bookplate (hence “Ex Libris”) designed by minor 19th Century French painter Alfred de Dreux (yes, the subject of the 1993 Hermes carre of the same name), a favorite of Emile Hermes. Emile Hermes was, of course, the head of Hermes at that time. In fact, it is his intials that are at the center of the “duc” (the emblem of Hermes of Paris). See below.
