From hermes.com:
The Émile Hermès collection is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Designers in search of subject-matter are sure to discover extraordinary objects, whose shapes and forms become the starting-point for new compositions. Françoise de La Perrière’s eye was caught by a collection of stirrups dating mostly from the 18th and 19th centuries. Their sophisticated, richly imaginative decoration testifies to the talent and expertise of artisans from around the world – South America, the Middle East, France and Spain. For use by men and side-saddle lady riders alike, their refined ornamentation – flowers, stars and mythological creatures – transforms them into elegant works of jewellery in their own right. Entitled simply Étriers (‘Stirrups’), this scarf mixes fine ribbons and metalwork to evoke the glories of a bygone era, reflected in the beauty of each and every object.
